I spoke this past Sunday on "Level Playing Field".The thought came to me of how it seems often people move ahead in line or get better seats or better position because of power or money or connections. I get put in the "nose bleed section" and others get the box seats. Others get stage passes or sit right up by the stage and I'm right by the back. I am tempted to think that it's not fair... kind of like the little boy trying to fight the Sumo.
The great thing about the Christmas story is that God has a "level playing field" and if anything he "tips" the field in favour of the underdog.
While Mary was still pregnant with my Lord, she said a hymn of praise to God- "He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty." Matthew 1:52,53. Of all the people that could have been invited to the manger, God sent an Angelic singing invitation to the poor stinky shepherds and then brought them Front Row to see the unfolding of His Salvation... God invites everyone regardless of race, position, education, net worth... to receive His great gift... the gift of His Son Who can forgive us of all our sins and redeem all our messages. "God so loved the world (that me and you buddy) that He gave His one and only Son (that's Jesus) that whoever believes (that is comes to fully rely on Him and believe that He came, lived, died and rose again) will not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16
Have an awesome Christmas... remember- He's the Reason for the Season!"
